The delivery rate is highest when the address on the letter matches the address in the systems of Swiss Post.
Note: You must therefore register your address correctly with Swiss Post; doing so with ePost alone is not sufficient.
Below you will read where and how you can make these adjustments. This is particularly relevant for people with several names. Here are some example combinations of a delivery address:
- Mr Dr Maximilian Thomas Müller Meier
- Mr Maximilian Müller Meier
- Mr Thomas Müller Meier
- Mr Maximilian Müller
- Mr Maximilian Meier
The various possible combinations for this name can negatively affect the sorting rate. This leads to an increased number of physically delivered letters.
For this reason, in the example given, we recommend registering the name with Swiss Post as follows:
Mr Maximilian Thomas Müller Meier
You can request a correction of the name in the systems of Swiss Post in two ways:
1. Online: in the customer portal «My Post» at www.post.ch
- Go to post.ch and click «My Post» at the top right.
- Log in with your SwissID.
- At the top right, go to your user profile (circle with your initials), click the circle and select «My profile».
- In the «User details» area, open the address change using the pencil icon.
- Then select «Report name correction» and enter your name change.
2. On site: at a Swiss Post branch
You can also report name changes directly at the counter of a post office branch. To prevent fraud, private individuals are required to present a valid, new identity document. Business customers must present a current commercial register extract as well as an identity document.
