To improve delivery accuracy, it is imperative that the name on the letter closely matches the name registered in the postal data (NOTE: this pertains to the Swiss Post systems, not ePost from ePost Service AG). Please refer below for the locations and formats where this can be amended. This is especially important for individuals with multiple names. Below are several examples of postal address variations as they may physically arrive at the Scanning Centre:
- Mr Dr Maximilian Thomas Müller Meier
- Mr Maximilian Müller Meier
- Mr Thomas Müller Meier
- Mr Maximilian Müller
- Mr Maximilian Meier
Due to the various possible combinations of this name in the address, sorting efficiency may be diminished, resulting in a higher volume of letters requiring physical delivery.
Therefore, in the example above, it is recommended that the name be recorded as follows:
Mr Maximilian Thomas Müller Meier
You may request a name correction within the Swiss Post systems through two methods:
Online: Via your Swiss Post customer portal "My Post" at www.post.ch
In the top right corner, click on your user icon (a circle with initials) and navigate to "My profile". Within the "User details" section, initiate an address change by selecting the "pen" icon. There, choose "Report name correction" and submit your updated name details.
In Person: At a Swiss Post Office
Name corrections may also be submitted at the service counter. To prevent fraud, private individuals are required to present a valid identity document. Business customers must provide a current commercial register extract along with an identity document for verification purposes.
