What is the difference between Standard, Plus and Registered?
There are three options for purely digital delivery. They differ in the proof of delivery and receipt you receive as the sender.
ePost Standard
This option is suitable for general correspondence such as information or invoices. You receive confirmation of delivery as soon as the letter is in the recipient’s digital inbox. A timestamp records the time of delivery. An electronic seal confirms that the letter is genuine and unaltered. Confirmation of delivery proves that the letter is available. It does not prove that the recipient has taken note of it.
ePost Plus
With ePost Plus, you receive confirmation of retrieval in addition to confirmation of delivery as soon as the recipient retrieves the letter for the first time. If the recipient does not retrieve the letter by the end of the seventh day after delivery, you receive confirmation of non-retrieval. This lets you track whether and when the letter was retrieved. Retrieval does not prove that the recipient has taken note of the contents.
ePost Registered
With ePost Registered, you send digital registered letters with a documented delivery history. Anyone who retrieves the letter must identify themselves. The recipient can explicitly accept or reject the letter within seven days. If there is no response within this period, we document this too. The confirmations let you track the dispatch as well as the acceptance, rejection or non-acceptance.
The legal effects that result are determined by the applicable statutory provisions and the circumstances of the individual case.
ePost Registered is suitable for important communications where you need a traceable delivery process and corresponding proof. You can only choose ePost Registered if the recipient can be reached digitally. Otherwise, the physical delivery options are available to you.
What happens if delivery fails?
Note on ePost Registered: If the recipient neither accepts nor rejects your registered letter within seven days, this is not a technical error. The status documents that there was no response within the deadline. The legal effects that result are determined by the applicable statutory provisions and the circumstances of the individual case.
Which delivery option is right for me?
If you want to be able to prove, for important communications, whether the recipient accepted or rejected your letter or whether there was no response, choose ePost Registered. The proof documents the delivery history. The legal effects that result are determined by the applicable statutory provisions and the circumstances of the individual case.
