When you go on holiday, the following four options are available to you. Choose the one that suits your needs.
Option 1: Continuing the ScanningService
The ScanningService of ePost Service Ltd does not scan 100 % of your physical mail. We therefore recommend emptying your letterbox regularly. If you are not expecting important letters or do not have to meet deadlines, you can continue to use the ScanningService. You will receive some letters physically in your letterbox and will only be able to read them after your return. Based on our experience, we recommend a maximum absence of 1 to 4 weeks in this case, depending on the volume of physical mail.
Option 2: Cancelling the ScanningService
You have the option of cancelling the service. This stops the forwarding to the Scancenter, no further costs arise, and the mail is again delivered directly to your address. Alternatively, you can set up another forwarding with Swiss Post (for example to a family member) or use the paid service Hold mail. A refund of the subscription is unfortunately not possible in this case. If you want to use the service again after your holiday, reactivation is required.
Option 3: Hold mail and active ScanningService
Unfortunately, it is not possible to forward your mail to ePost Service Ltd and at the same time hold your physical mail at the branch. Technically, this is not feasible. To avoid setting it up again, you can leave the ScanningService active (the subscription costs continue to apply) and additionally use the «Hold mail» service. After the «Hold mail» service ends, we ask you to contact our Support so that we can reactivate the forwarding to the Scancenter free of charge.
Option 4: EDS Butler service
If you are often or for longer periods abroad and need all letters digitally, especially when deadlines are often short, we recommend the EDS ScanningService. With Swiss Post you can order a paid forwarding of your entire mail, which is scanned by EDS. You will find further information and prices here.
